Responsibilities :

  • Responsible to source Container freight and accessorial and managing capacity requirements for all Company and Businesses in APAC.
  • Execute sourcing events, manage stakeholders internally (Company, peers in the container teams globally) and externally (shipping lines and other service providers)
  • Develop strategy and fine-tune cost options and logistics innovations to drive customer solutions (and growth)

50% Sourcing Execution

  • Plan and execute multiple large RFPs (simultaneously at times); provide budgetary costing timely and accurately; negotiate rates and capacity on behalf of multiple business units for both short- and long-term rates.
  • Analyze spend and shipping data to identify and develop opportunities.
  • Identify new trade lanes and improve contract models.
  • 10% Strategy
  • Support the Regional Lead to develop & deploy regional Container vision and strategy.
  • Identify areas where can leverage volumes or implement improvement strategies across businesses, with a view to generate value and optimize ocean freight.

15% Market knowledge

  • Understand the Container market and business requirements across all Enterprises; partner with internal entities as well as external carrier desks to position to capture market opportunities and deliver savings, capacity, and revenue service levels required.
  • Map market demand and supply and provide regular updates, forecasts and share other relevant market data with the internal stakeholders.

15% Stakeholder management

  • Manage key regional stakeholder relationships for the Container mode, externally and internally, especially throughout the contract period.

10% Processes

  • Follow the common processes and tools (e.g., GT Nexus) to ensure they are consistently implemented and aligned with regional Container strategy.
  • Resolve freight rate/terms issues as they arise in the course of operations, other duties as required.

Qualifications : 

  • 3 to 5 years minimum of experience working in Transportation, Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial Management and/or Trading
  • Experience in the Container Business and sourcing/negotiating freight
  • Having experienced change through the organization
  • Customer and vendor relationship management and negotiation
