Responsibilities:

The position will report directly to the Vice President and General Manager and its main role is to set up a successful and agile business unit, providing strategic & operational leadership for Sales & Commercial management and for associated cross-functional processes. Key responsibilities include hiring and onboarding of the Sales Team, establishing and driving local product strategies and tactical plans to maximize the benefit to patients and customers and to optimize the value of the product for the company. The Business Manager is accountable for delivering agreed product metrics, including the commercial P&L and financial KPIs.

  • Recruit and onboard a highly competent sales team.
  • Provide strategic & operational leadership to the Sales Team.
  • Develop and drive implementation of a strong commercial strategy, including specific channel strategy.
  • Develop and execute simple but agile commercial tactics in collaboration with other functions.
  • Develop key account management plans, education/awareness programs and tactics plans to meet agreed product goals.
  • Ensure plans are developed, implemented and monitored in conjunction with relevant cross functional teams and aligned with the Global brand strategy.
  • Identify and address local marketing issues/needs quickly and monitor progress.
  • Deliver local Commercial P&L goals and other performance objectives & financial KPIs for the brand as agreed by Vice President & General Manager.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key customers/KOLs/ Patient Advocacy stakeholders/Distributor.
  • Drive cross-functionally the implementation of optimal patient support tools.
  • Manage local commercial partnerships and oversee development of business cases for new business opportunities for the BU.
  • Manage, motivate, coach and develop the Field Sales team.
  • Set annual sales targets, annual incentives, and review/address progress vs. targets
  • Ensure all activities of the business unit comply with the company’s Ethics Framework, with all applicable policies as well as with all applicable internal and external Code of Conducts and laws
  • Ensure sales/marketing resources are adequate to ensure optimal competitive advantage on all commercial fronts and to achieve short, mid and long term revenue targets for the BU
  • In collaboration with People & Organization (P&O), manage all people-related issues in the BU including discipline, reward, recruitment, appraisal, setting standards
  • Ensure administrative systems are simple, agile and effective and designed to support the BU sales and commercial activities without impeding efforts to meet business goals.

Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree in life science, business administration or equivalent
  • 7-10 years-experience in international pharmaceutical companies
  • Experienced in leadership position, strong track record of people management
  • Significant experience and track record of success in Sales Management and Brand/Product management
  • Thorough understanding of commercial aspects of the business including brand management, sales planning and execution, market access, patient advocacy, regulatory environment and pricing
  • Successful track record of hiring, developing and retaining talent / direct reports
  • Ability to leverage knowledge of marketplace, competitor landscape and economic forces and translate them into clear short term and long term strategies
  • P&L management / budget management
  • Identifying growth opportunities for a given product and driving an organization to capture value
  • Formulating and implementing effective marketing and sales strategies
  • Effectively working with cross-functional teams
  • Developing business cases to recommend and rationalize investments and other strategic actions
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
